Felicia Diesel Starting Problem

Featured Replies

I have a 99 Diesel GLI Felicia and when it gets warm e.g normal running temp and I turn the engine off it becomes hard to start and the heater light does not come on..

Anyone got any ideas please..??

Does the starter motor spin at the same sort of speed as when the engine is cold?

If not, suspect starter connections or solonoid.

If so, suspect engine temperature sensor.

The starter motor does spin at the same speed but for a longer period. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't..

Deffo temp sender , put in one from a 1.3 and your problems should stop

You might like to read the posts which I submitted on this problem. It is very common, and there appear to be two answers, one immediate which really only tackles the symptoms but seems to have very few side effects, and one more permanent which involves finding a good mechanic. My experiences are well documented on the following two posts:

If you look at them in that order, you'll find out what I found out.
