suspension spring

Featured Replies

has anybody got a set of felicia front suspension springs kicking about anywhere that they could make a few measurements for me please??

Hi , Just taken the front ones off my 1999 Pick up last weekend . What do you need to know ?

This is very spooky though ! I was just going to ask you to measure the bottom of the front damper diameter for me !! That's why I logged in !

I was hoping to find an alternative i.e. Ford etc as aftermarket dampers for them are easier to find and cheaper !!

I have fitted lowering springs to mine , but with the 17inch wheels they now hit the arches over any bumps !

I want to keep the wheels and the springs , so I am now thinking of stiffening up the shocks ( on a budget!)

i need to know what the free length of the spring is from top to bottom... (basically how long it is when it's uncompressed)

33 cm free length

33 cm free length

is that the standard spring??

your new lowering springs didn't have any numbers or markings on them anywhere did they indicating the spring rate??

re the strut bottoms; the hole in the top of the bearing housing is 50mm, but it crushes down, the sizes of the struts vary slightly from one manufactuer to another, but the ones i have are 45mm OD, but this difference in size is compensated for when you 'crush' the hub when you do the pinch bolt up

Hi , yes these are definitely the standard springs I took off.

The lowering springs were PI springs for a Favorit ! Came un-boxed

There was writing on them , but I could not tell you off-hand what it said ? ( I have the rears still off the car , as I put Golf GTI ones on the rear !)

I have just poked my head under the wheelarch and cannot see it , if you are really desperate for what it says on them I could jack it up tomorrow and take a look to see if I can read it ?

I will say that when both springs i.e. standard and lowered were next to each other there was not too much difference in the free length , approx 20-30mm , but the thickness of the coil is a lot more on the standard spring

Thnaks for info on the damper , that is what I needed
