Hi, I.m the proud owner of one of only a handful of Skoda Roomsters in Australia (1.9 TDI ) a great car! Can any long term owners let me know what sort of milage I should expect out of disc pads and rotors as the rims are coated with a lot of pad dust in a very short time.

Thanks.:)

Hello and welcome.

The pads and discs will be just like any others if used normally. I have just hit 21k and both are fine. I would expect about 30k out of the front pads and 50-60k out of the discs. Rears I doubt you will need to change them for years as they do very little work. I would have thought that corrosion will get to them before wear.

Hello and welcome...

If I may take the discussion a stage further; what are the brakes like for feel and stopping power?

I'm just about to take delivery of a Roomster 1.6 Tip Scout but have only had a short gentle test drive. However from experience of my Octavia vRS and a Fabia before that both cars had good initial bite and stopping power, BUT lost the edge and faded a bit for long/hard stops. I thus uprated the front pads to Ferrodo DS2500s on both cars with excellent results.

Am I likely to want to upgrade the pads on my Roomster?

PS> Welcome; glad to know Skoda is thriving 'down under' too; there are a couple of Octy vRS drivers on here as well; do spread the word.

You mapping? If not I doubt the 105 bhp will trouble them

I hated the brakes on my VRS and I changed to 312's within a month of owning the car. The brakes on the Roomster are perfect even running a bit more than standard power

Seconded, they feel much better with regard to fade than my previous octy did.

Thanks Guys; good to know stopping power on the Roo.... is good.

A thought for you Fluffmeister; have you done any thing about mudflaps for your Roo..... Scout? I want to get a set for mine but see that the OE fronts will not fit a Scout. What about a set of RallyFlapz for the Roo..... Scout then?

Brakes are excellent. 1st car I've owned with discs all round, they are brilliant. Done 20000 miles (32000Km) now, just been serviced & the pads were still fine.
