Air bag and limp mode! ARRRR!!

Featured Replies

Hi all, havent been on hear in a while, i have got an 02 vrs in white :-), last week i had my car re-mapped at Jabba Sport and she is now making 226bhp!! WOW!! much better now!. Any way, since it has been done it will drop into limp mode when started from cold, normally in the morning on the way to work after a mile or two... no boost, i get no lights on the dash or engine codes just very low or no boost?? Spoke to Jabba, Mike i think it was told me to try a "All reset" to get the throttle body to self adjust (driver door open, key in ignition, switched on for 2mins, then key to off position for 1 min, then shut the door) this did`nt cure the boost problem, but did make my air bag warning light come on. Took it to my local dealer about the air bag, they plugged it in to the Vag-com in and it came up with code 12364, they reset the air bag and told me to see how i got on.

I got in, started up, light went out, then came back on again. The print out he gave me from the vag-com indicates its the passenger side air back, "igniter 1 for passenger air bag - n111", "Resistance to high". I work in electronics and this sounds like a bad connection or broken wire some ware. Has any one any ideas or had anything like this befor? A new air bag is IRO £700 so understandably i would like to rule a few things out befor splashing out on one.

Going back to the boost problem, i have changed the water Temp Sensor today, my old one was black and have now fitted brand new green one. Throttle body was also reset on the dealer Vag-com. Not sure if its a cure yet.

Cheers any help would be great.

Quick update, still have my boost problem from cold, even now i have had my temp sensor changed and throttle reset... What to try next...

So, you had some work done to the car and as a result its now not running correctly? If you took your car to a main dealer and they 'repaired' the car but as a direct result of this you developed another fault, wouldn't you go back the the garage and complain?

On the airbag fault, did they state to which bag it related? Have you checked the wires to the seats are still connected properly (if you have side airbags)?

Hi thanks for the reply Ric,

I would take it back to jabba sport, but they are 140 miles away from me, so befor i plan a trip back to them, i thought i would try some of the more common things first befor i go back. They have said they will have a look at it for me and see if they can sort it out. But it might only give the boost problem once a day and normally when it has been sat all night. And because it does`nt give a fault code on the vag-com, it could be tricky to know where to start looking, and 140 mile is a long way to go, that when i get their, my car will probably be working just fine.

With the air bag fault (its the passenger dash air bag, the seat side air bags are fine), i think in this case it could be coinsedence that it has cropped up at the same time.

I have a man on the inside at my local skoda dealer who is helping me out. Luckley i have managed to pick up another air bag off the net, i just need the code clearing from the Air bag ECU to see if it is a cure, fingures crossed.
