Look what arrived from Jabbasport today

Featured Replies

Oooh, very nice. I cannot wait to see what this thing does to my car. Shame, it's staying in the box for at least 3 weeks until I get my next set of exams out the way. Sure looks shexy though!

Jas, have you developed a lisp. :)

that does look mighty fine indeed.!

God, can't do I attempt a Sean Connery impression without someone taking the mick! :P ;)

I have already figured out that room in the engine bay is going to be tough to find for this, but I will do my best. (by "I" I actually mean "we", being the collective mongrelling ability of myself and the garage all the work gets done at :D)

how does that work then?

Boost regulated water/methanol injection. :) Boost goes up, injection goes up - cools down boosted air inlet temps (my FMIC pipework gets quite hot on a run) and helps give more power. :) Methanol will provide a source of fuel, much like my propane did, but I probably won't need that. The water will be more important.

You sir are a certified toys whore! :D

Looks like a lovely piece of kit, looking forward to seeing how you get on.

Are you running a seprate tank for W/M? or using the washer bottle thing?

How much did it set you back?

And remember to put the injection after your FMIC, otherwise the methanol will rott your FMIC from the inside out.

Yup - all of the above being taken into account. It's going to be injected into my FMIC pipework, about 12" past FMIC and around 2.5 feet before the inlet manifold.

Cost me £446.50 all in. Not cheap, but should yield some decent gains given my smokey car.... The decision to use the snow bottle, or the stock washer bottle is still to be taken. Looking at the size of the kit, adapting the stock washer bottle looks favourite at the moment, especially as using a 50/50 methanol/water mix will not harm the washer jets and still clean. :)

Makes for enpencive window cleaner tho dosent it!!

Im looking at a Devel's Own kit. But gota get the pennys first really. $330 aint bad for a Stage2 kit (for VW, 'cos yanks dont like Skodas. lol).

OMG

I want it

Yeah - But I can get 200 litres of methanol for £77 off Ebay, which equates to 200 washer bottle fulls, plus I don't use the washer bottle that much for the windscreen - only if it's a bad day for flies....

I may still use the supplied reservoir. All depends on what room I can manufacture in the engine bay. I know the BMC box is going to have to move closer to the turbo intake pipe somehow, probably via a shorter silicone hose instead of the stock black pipe...

That kit seems OK. I only splurged out on the kit from Jabba as Snow have a good name in this industry and after inspecting the pump and control unit I can see why. :)

This is one time I decided not to ghost-import something from the States. :D

I know what your saying, but have heard of Devils own before.

I dont want to but from snow performance and then find out they but from devils own!! Know where im comming from?

Devils Own have a Forum too, just been reading about a GTi owner with the kit.

He used VagCom to look at intake temps. Around 27-30 degrees 'C' .

Looking good, and some top reviews, so looks like im not saving for a house this month after all... Sorry Sarah.

The space where the SMIC was is fairly useful, certainly room for a fuel cooler, and Hard to say the size of that tank from the pic but I would imagine it would fit in there too, you might have to make some sort of neck for filling it though.

Other than that the 5l bottle for xenons would come in handy there.

Contemplating that, but equally I'm not fussed about filling the 2 litre bottle up more often. At least the car will tell me when it's getting low. I'll just keep a 2 litre bottle of premix in the car if I find I'm going through it a bit quick. Hoping that 2 litres will last a fair old while, but the joys of water/meth economy is to follow. Apparently the Jabba car does go through it fairly fast when on passionate driving..... :D

Would like a fuel cooler down by the SMIC area, but I've not found the totally ideal kit to stick down there yet. Any pointers? ;)

Half decent guide here SEATCupra.net - Your #1 source for SEAT information - The Diesel Fuel Cooler Guide

but you can also spec up your own jere Oil (To Air) Coolers | Oil Coolers & Brackets | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Modifying, Parts and Accessories

It seems the best option is the 115mm 7 core from what i hear :P

Theres plenty of mounting potential under there, had to make a small bracket from flatbar but was pretty straight forward.

No pointers for for the fuel cooler really. Jabba would know best prob.

How meny letres would a Standard vRS use per 40L of fuel?

Might be worth finding out, might make a difference on the size of tank i have.

As its regulated by boost it would depend on the driving. you could probably use a tank in a few minutes on a track, but might make a tank last a whole 500 mile tank of diesel, if you take it easy. :)

Cheers Mr W for the links. :)

You may even be able to improve the throttle response by ditching the intercooler completely. In petrol applications, the water / meth is generally in place of an intercooler. You can even run it through the supercharger for better boost if you have non coated vanes.

Chris

what does it do?

what does it do?

Sprays a mixture of water and methanol into the inlet stream to cool the air going into the engine. Often called chemical intercooling. More air = more power.
