RNS510 v Soundsystem

Featured Replies

Hi, does anybody know if the new RNS510 (MFD3) can be hooked up with the 12 speaker soundsystem ?? Also can my 2006 multifunction wheel be programmed to answer/hang-up phonecalls if I get the bluetooth fitted ?? Was planning to order new Vrs tdi for Jan 09 but the death of the "Celtic Tiger" has meant I will be keeping my Elegance for another year, so I want to freshen it up a bit !!

Hi! I Ordered new vRS TDI in April and it is equipped with Columbus (RNS510, MFD3) and Soundsystem. I don´t know about the steeringwheel. I think it´s not possible to get Vrs with factory fitted multifunction wheel.. That´s here in Finland. I don´t know how it is there.

You can definitely combine the RNS510 with an externally amplified setup in most VW cars (they call it Dynaudio). That means the connections are present on the rear of the unit.

Here is the pinout from the RNS-510:

The top connection is the quadlock, which you will also have on your Audience unit. On the audience unit, the line out (which goes to the amplifier in your setup) is in the Quadlock connector.

In the RNS-510, it's been moved to the secondary connector (bottom image). They are marked as OUT R and OUT L.

Whilst it wouldn't be a direct plugin and go, the connections are still there, so you should be able to buy the connector housing and wires for the secondary connector, and wire it up to the existing quadlock.

VRStu would be your man for finding out the part numbers for this stuff.

I'm pretty sure that some recoding with VAG-COM could give you what you need on the steering wheel front, but I'm sure that others with more experience will comment.
