1.8 T engine differences between 150 & 225 versions

Featured Replies

Hi All does anyone know if there is any difference between the standard 150bhp & 225Bhp engine apart from the obvious stuff like turbo, management & inlet manifold. Does the 225 engine have heavier duty pistons & valves? thanks Nick

Have a quick search mate as this has been covered a load of times before. The pistons are uprated but i personally dont know about the valves

Have not had much luck with the search on here mate any ideas on keywords

I believe the 225 has a reinforced engine block and a larger MAF housing, over the 150/180.

Like you, I couldn't find much on the search!

Not sure about cams, valves, pistons and conrods etc

the blocks are the same but pistons and crank changed for 225 compression ratio, bigger injectors, Maf sensor has 3" ranther than 2.5 (less problems with sensor) twin cats used for downpipe, bigger turbo, inlet pipe is bigger,4bar fuel regulator, Mapping different, twin intercoolers, basically a better engine which takes more power for less money. Apart from cupra R using it, its a souly Audi incarnation.

err, please explain

The K04'd 210/225 bhp engine map to around 260-270 bhp, so in thoery its cheaper to get more power out of than the 150/180.

;)

Looks a bit different now though.

not solely Audi and Cupra R then...

It WAS in an Audi.

If your including modified cas jesus the 225 engine has been in everything from a Renault Clio, to a Lotus Elise stopping off with a T25 camper inbetween.
