Climatronic problem - HELP!!

Featured Replies

When I got in my car the other day, and strted the engine, the fan came on full blast.

It's stuck on full blast, coldest setting (which isn't a major problem because I currently have no air con rad), and none of the buttons on it work - I can't turn the fan down, redirect the air, or adjust the temperature.

Anyone hazard a guess why? (If it helps the air con rad and condenser have been removed to repair the puncture in the rad)

:confused::confused::confused:

On the plus side, it's back from the paintshop, all black and shiney again!

Can anyone help??

please???

Something not plugged in maybe????

It's my best guess.

Do you have/can you get vagcom

How does the "demand interior temperature" compare with the actual exterior temperature? I'm wondering if the behavior is actually perfectly normal, except that the climate front panel isn't fully connected, because mine goes on full bung whenever I get in and the demand temp is more than a couple of degrees below the actual!

I thought that, except absolutely none of the buttons work.

Guess it's a "console out" job then...

Great idea Dave!:doh::rofl:

seriously though, I was thinking the same thing, because I had the entire dash out to replace the airbags, and I can't remember if it worked after that.

I don't have VAGCOM, or access to one - would that tell me??

Vag com would more than likely tell you if something was knackered.

I'm not sure what the wiring loom is like but maybe a missing plug which controls the blowers could cause this, if you catch my drift ???:)

Fixed it!!

and this is how.

Turned on the engine, the fan came on full blast, so I prised the front panel (the carbon fibre looking thingy) off, and hey presto, the controls started working again.

Put the panel back on, and the fan went back onto full.

Strange, I thought. But when I looked I noticed the edge of the cover was caught on the "fan +" button. Pushed it fully down and now everything works.

What a f***wit I am sometimes...
