Interior light popped out!

Featured Replies

Got in my car this morning and started up and my interior light unit popped out of the headlining!

Now I now its not supposed to just pop out, but does it need to be removed to replace bulbs etc or can I just glue it back in? I have just pushed it back in for the moment and it seems to be fairly secure.

I have another piece of trim near the seat belt on the passenger seat that isn't quite right too, I'm in warranty so I don't know whether its worth a trip to the dealer.

I know the trim on the MK2 has been criticised but has anyone else had the interior light fall out!?!

The interoir light is held in by two screws located under the plastic light lens. To remove the lens carefully prise it down from the front edge.

Do you mean the lense fell out or the whole light fitting?

As Moley says the unit is held in by two small philips screws.

The whole fitting!! It was hanging by its wires.

I'm guessing this should be securely fixed if the lens could be removed seperately to replace the bulb.

In this case would a bit of glue ensure its future position! Ha.

Glue wouldn't really be ideal.

If the car is still under warranty I would let the dealer re fit the unit correctly. With the lens removed you should see two counter bored holes either side of the main festoon bulb. Look up into the aperture in the headlining and there should be two corrosponding holes for the screws. When you remove the light lens the two screws should fall out, thats the only place they could go if they were ever fitted

I think a trip to the dealer is in order, then I can have both items looked at. I'm not gonna spend much time on it myself when the car is still under warranty!

Thanks for feedback.

My rear interior light unit has popped out ever since my full company hands-free kit was installed. Simple cure, as this is a clip-fit: piece of folded cardboard!!!!

Rear light should have screws too.

last week i have mine replaced under warranity because in the factory they use the electric screw driver to tide them 2 screws a bit too much and broke the plastic of the interior light (common fault was the dealer explain and i spoted another interior light on his desk in the same condition like mine)

The same condition as mine also, I think the dealer I took mine to would have been happy for me to drive away with the 1 screw in, I insisted on a new unit. Hopefully get it fitted some time this week.

I have had two replaced for this reason
