Thumbs up for a dealer!

Featured Replies

Had an orange warning light come on whilst working in Aberdeen last Thursday (100's of miles from home!). It was the icon in the shape of an engine and checking the manual revealed it had something to do with the exhaust monitor. Engine was hesitant and surging.

Manual recommendation - Refer to Dealer.

So pushed the buttons on the navigation and found I was less than half a mile away from the nearest dealer, Specialist Skoda.

Best they could do was to book it in for 3 days time to 'check it out'. I explained that I need to get home and they said I should carry on as "Skoda has a very breakdown service if required"!

So, carried on and within a couple of miles from home, Hey Presto the warning light went out and the engine returned to normal.

Everything was fine until I was driving through Anglesey today, heading for home. Yep, you guessed it, same warning light comes on and the engine started to surge mildly.

With the confidence that Skoda have a very good breakdown service, I pushed on towards home and decided to call into my local dealer, Telfords in Carlisle, arriving about 4pm.

Explained the problems I had experienced and without hesitation they took the vehicle into the workshop straight away. Within minutes they informed me that the exhaust pressure sensor was registering faults and they were in the process of fitting another. 40 minutes later I was on the road again, well chuffed.

We have plenty of posts regarding poor service from Skoda dealers on the forum. Which, I suppose is typical human behavour in as much as we are quicker at pointing out the negatives, rather than the positive.

For a change, here is positive comment on a dealer. Well done Telfords!

Nice to hear a good dealer report.
