Hi,

I have a strong smell of unburnt petrol coming from my exhaust on cold start.

Car has just passed MOT so must be fine when warm, any ideas what to look for?

Best I can suggest is check the condition of the leads and plugs, unless you have to churn the starter lots on a cold start?

cat or lambda probe might be stuffed, or it could just be the classic coolant temp sensor problem

Gave all electrical contacts a spray with WD40, and noticed the earthing strap from distributer rusty, cleaned it, and seems OK now

Ok, wrong component, but right theory. It was blowing unburnt fuel out the back before the engine caught.
