Bonnet shaking

Featured Replies

On the motorway driving at 70 mph my bonnet seems to shake on the drivers side a bit, is this normal?

Mine does the same but I would guess it is normal as it doesn't seem to move far but is noticable.

I also noticed that the under bonnet drivers side sponge spacer is missing from mine so I will get another (stupid plastic clips) and see if it makes a difference. Although I doubt it will steady the front of the bonnet when it is positioned up near the back of the engine bay.

Perhaps there is some adjustment to the bonnet catch/release mechanism that might be able to reduce the effect.....

Anyone ?

If you ajust the rubber feet on the underside of the bonnet but unscrewing them out this should take up the play in the catch.

had the same thing on my octy, at 80+ the bonnet would shake, it was enough to make you slow down through fear of it popping open... (doubt it would).

I booked it in at a dealers and they adjusted the mounts on the slam panel near the grille, that sorted it, a test down a country lane near the dealers saw to that ;)
