Afternoon, all!

Hi all

Well I picked my Fabia vRS up about oh an hour and a half ago! Not been out to play yet because I'm working from home today and have to be disciplined, but I did get pointed at this site and couldn't resist!

Looking forward to seeing what the car will do, and I'll resist the usual newbie thing of asking loads of stupid questions before doing a search on old threads :)

So I suppose I ought to say how I got here. Well, I'm a bit of a petrolhead and spend most of my spare time playing with cars (I have a 5.0L TVR Griffith). A few weeks ago had a mate staying for the weekend, we were a bit bored so we decided to go out to 'play' at baiting dealers. The plan was that I would ask all the techie questions, and he would ask questions about colours etc, and we'd see who they tried to sell a car to, bloke or bird. Well, everything went fairly predictably until we got to Brooklyn Skoda in Rugby. They didn't put a foot wrong, I was so impressed with them that I booked a test drive, and of course once I'd done that I just had to buy it:D

The rest as they say is history. Couldn't believe how well it performed on test drive, and I bet it's a hoot on a track! Hmmmm... now there's an idea!

Welcome

Pistonheads by any chance? :D

Welcome...

Welcome to Briskoda, rude girl. :D Your TVR should spark some interest with one of our members in particular.

Welcome to Briskoda. The Fabia is a great little track tool once the suspension and engine have been tweaked. Just ask some of the Octy owners on here that came to Brunters! ;)

Thanks all for the welcome.

robmawer - yes I am a veteran PHer! But I promise to behave better here than I do there :)

DCW - not surprised there are other TVR enthusiasts here - seems as if the Skoda/TVR combination is becoming more and more common, I know quite a few people who have both, and have the same love affair with both.

fab16v - yep, I already had one eye on chipping it. Been out for a bit of a (gentle) play tonight and wondered about the suspension so I might just come back to you to discuss that at some time later if you don't mind. Aaaaargh - don't get me started!!! I bought this for a daily driver - if I start the 'I'll just have a tinker with xxx' game on this as well as the other car, I might as well just declare bankrupt now!

Suspension makes a huge difference! Car feels so much more planted now. Though it could have something to do with the upper and lower strut braces though!

I'll shut up now. Don't want to take the blame for you spending your money! :D

Welcome to Briskoda,

I work with a Piston Head and I know what a bunch of nutcases you are, so youll fit in just fine here :)

Another Skoda/TVR Griff owner here. Oh and 2 x Integrales as well!

Welcome.

Chris

are we allowed to say how fast we have got out of our cars, or is mr plod watching.

You can say whatever you like, but be prepared for half the members to be impressed and the other half to jump on you like a ton of bricks for driving at excessive speeds.

NB The preferred euphemism seems to be " .. on my private road"

hi rude girl, jonno here,

brooklyn skoda in rugby, is that the one on hillmorton road, next to aldi, caus if so my son and daughter live just around the corner.

picking emily up on saturday, so might check it out.

glad you love the car so much, the dealers could (if they wanted) just leave the keys in the cars and let people take them out, that way they could sell all the cars they wanted without having to do any of the sales pitch malarky.

I knew as soon as i test drove my octy vRS that i'd want it. it was the first one i actually paid any real interest in as well... so much for shopping around.

Jonno - sorry I didn't spot your reply before the weekend. I work away quite a lot so don't always manage to read. Brooklyn is (as you probably now know!) the one on Hillmorton Road. Can't speak too highly of them to date - they were even fantastic over a couple of anomalies in the paintwork I wasn't happy with. Can't ask for more.

So, one week and 1000 miles in to ownership (that's quite a lot to say I was out in the TVR all weekend isn't it? :)) and I like it even more. Still not found anything to irritate me, though the can-of-pop chiller doesn't seem to chill ;). Stiffer springs might be on the list for later in the year.

I can see me getting quite boring if this love affair continues.

RG

Which pop chiller is that, the 1 in the glove box, or the 1 between the steering wheel and the drivers door.

( should have been designed for the small bottles of water )

The one by the driver's door. Doesn't work either with or without the 'on' switch engaged. Not a big deal - it's going in to the dealer next week and in any case I doubt I'd use it for anything other than keeping parking change in :)

I only mentioned it as a joke - the car's a dream, who needs 2 fridges in one car?

The can "chiller" will pump air into that compartment at the same temperature as is coming out of the vents in the rest of the car. The glovebox is chilled permanently. :D

I clearly have the upgrade option whereby it doesn't pump anything in at all!

 So you got a "special edition" one then ;) Hopefully the dealer will fix it for you :)
