Hi folks, I didn't know this Club existed but for me searching on Google for the 'other one'. I am amember of SOCGB, but since I gave my Favorit estate to my dad (with membership details) I've forgotten how to ask questions on their site. I must say that for the two years I had the Favorit, what a usefull car it was and like a Tardis inside. More legroom in the rear than cars the next class up and the rear load area with the seats down was huge, I can't see the new Fabia estate being as big, but it may just be the style of it that belies its size.

I never had any trouble with the car, except changing the discs and pads when I first got it, but my dad had trouble with it cutting out which was traced to a faulty earth wire on the fuel pump and he had to have a new head gasket last year, but I think that may have been going when I had it as it used to loose water somewhere. A recent problem he's had is difficulty starting the engine and sometimes it has refused to start altogether, but when left a couple of hours it has started fine. He did say that the first time this starting problem happened the engine would not rev and he came back from Lancaster to Garstang (where he lives) virtually in second gear! He's taken it to a local garage, who I don't trust, who gave it an oil change and said there was no compression and changed the air filter! Has anyone any idea what the problem is as I don't want my dad,who's over 75 now and doesn't 'tinker' anymore, being ripped off by some yokel mechanic.

Also, does anyone have a complete towbar for the mentioned 1995 Favorit estate as he and my mum would still like to take their little caravan out while they are able.

Upate! My dad took the car out the other day and after about half an hour it conked out, as though he had just turned it off-no spluttering or hesitation-it just stopped. After calling a friend for help and waiting an hour or so, he tried it again and it started first time and ran perfectly all the way home! Any ideas? Please let me know.
