Scratched Plasma Screen, Helppppp!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys and Gals,

I have a little problem,

Last night i was taking down our curtain pole as the bracket on the wall needed adjusting,

as i stepped back the dog was there and as i adjusted so not to tread on him i forgot the pole had 2 ends,

i managed to brush the screen with the tapered end of the metal pole onto the screen,

as the t.v was on i thought i had got away with it, upon turning it off i had a closer look and to my horror there is a small scuff,

we are talking really small like a scuff on your car that you get on a car park from someone opening their door onto yours!

its a panasonic 42" plasma, similar to the one in this link, same t.v but without the massive stand

Panasonic Th 42PX600CAB Plasma Tv - Good Picture - Review 5/5

my friend said to use some AG SRP to polish it out but i want to know if there is a protective coating on the screen, will i have a "patch" if i lightly polish

what do you guys recommend???

any help would be much much appreciated!

If it were me I would just leave it as it is. If there is any sort of anti glare coating, polishing it is going to make a big patch of the screen look different. You say that when the telly is on, you cannot see any scratch. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Alternatively, you can send it round to me and get a new one:D

Chris

If it doesnt come of with a slightly damp microfibre towel, then leave it alone. Any attempt ot remove the scuff will take the screens coating off and make it look far worse than it already does.

All plasma TV's have an anti-glare coating and polish will take it off.

Boot the dog, wont fix the screen but will make you feel a bit better, stupid mutt.

i'm just one of those people who cant stand things like this,

i will lie in bed and wont be able sleep cause i know its there, i'm the same with my car, arghhhhhhh

Shove the pole right through the screen and claim of your household insurance then :D

Or sell it to me for £20.....
