First Impressions

Featured Replies

So I picked the vRS up on Saturday.... Silver '05 plate, 25k miles, Cruise, Xenons and Sunroof, all for £7,000.

I used to drive a Ka... OMFG what a step-up! It felt weird initially, as all new cars do, but after the first hour or so it started to feel a bit natural.

Pros:

Immense overtaking ability - coming from a Ka with 59bhp, the power is something else! It really is indecently quick for something that looks so inconspicuous.

Economy! 50mpg on the drive back home and I certainly wasn't holding back with the right foot

Refinement; much, much quieter than I expected it to be. I've got Toyos on the front so that may help.

Interior; considering it's the budget brand of the VAG stable, I'm really impressed with how solid it feels.

Cruise Control; never had it before but now I don't think I'd buy a car without it - transforms motorway driving.

Cons:

Ka handled better.

Steering feel; where is it?

Stereo is pretty poor.

Seats are initially comfortable but a bit firm for longer journeys.

It doesn't like being booted from low revs - sometimes causes a rumble strip effect (from looking on here it's probably due to the DMFW :() - so now I'm careful to only use WOT over 2,200rpm. But apart from that, it's in absolutely mint condition. Oh, and Xenons really are the dogs!

Take it it's a fabia vRS then? :)

The rumbling is a combination of flywheel wobble, but also it's boost related as it's trying to boost up but the revs are too low for it to work right. You get a ch ch ch ch noise which I think is compressor stall/overboost - can't remember exactly.

After a while you will realise that in most of the gears, it's not best to use WOT until 2000rpm at least.

enjoy :)

Great cars hope you enjoy:thumbup:

Hope you get used to it and enjoy

Oh man.....im going to dread it when it comes to selling mine :(

i feel the same,

Prices have taken a serious hit :thumbdwn:

Cons:

Ka handled better.

It just feels like it does as you were used to the Ka. I'm always astonished at the way the missus' car handles despite it only being the 1.2 Classic. Going for the Ambiente wheels helped hugely.

congrats on the car mate ...drive safely and get a good feel for the car before doing silly speeds i took a big change in my driving from my clio 172...you will get there pal

Hello and Welcome.

I love my Furby.

Nearly Part-exhanged it a few months ago (chiefly because of money worries) for a Citroen C1, got offered a great part exchange.

However, i couldn't say goodbye to the Fabia, have decided to keep it, and that's the way it will stay, particularly as the second hand price has gone down so much!

Hello and Welcome.

Keep her lit in corners. She'll lean a bit but sticks well.

First mods? - RARB and drop her to the weeds.

Thats a cracking deal for £7,000. I'd love to know where all these cheap cars are. I was recently, as in the last month, looking (Autotrader, Pistonheads, ebay, here etc.) and the only cheap ones have over 50,000 miles which is too much for me.

Settled on a 100 hp which I will chip/remap to 130/135.

I'll have to edit my avatar and signature as they are way out of date.

Up here, the price range for 54/05, 25/40k miler, excluding the pile of factory fitted options yours has, is £8000/£9000, so you won a watch. Well done.

I think it's a case of just waiting. When looking around I noticed there were a lot of overpriced examples, that just weren't selling, and gradually the seller/dealer reduced the price. Prime example being the Black 55-plater (37k miles) on here that eventually sold for £7,000.
