vrs tdi

Featured Replies

I have a vrs tdi bought new in march, done 3500 miles, but compared to my seat leon fr tdi i previously owned the vrs seems realy flat when setting off from junctions or traffic lights, where the leon would pick up straight away the vrs seems to take a couple of seconds before it starts to go, anyone have any ideas what it could be or are they all like this.

It has only done 3500 miles so far.Let it run in a bit more and i think it will change.

Which engine did you have in the FR? Was it the 2 litre or a.9 litre?

The 170PD engine is very flat below about 1800-2000rpm. So you need to get the revs above this to get it to go well. It took me a little while to suss it with a few hairy moments on roundabouts when I floored it but not a lot happen for a second or so and then it all coming in at once.

Lol glad to know I'm not the only one who has taken a short while to adapt to this, had a couple of scary moments pulling out of junctions so far!

You've hit on what seems to be a fundamental problem with the vRS TDI. I find exactly the same as you - had one or two serious 'moments' with very poor pick-up from rest. If your Leon had the identical engine then there must be some problem with the Skoda application. I suspect the new common rail enigine will help improve things - though that's small comfort for the rest of us.

I'm intending to get the dealer to give it the once-over, but I'm expecting the usual 'they all do that sir' response...

Ok,thanks for the info,my leon was 1.9 150 fr,as you say the vrs can be a bit hairy at roundabouts etc,

Totally different in the new vrs crd though. Power from go....
