What should I do?

Featured Replies

As some of you may know - I upgraded my Felicia a few weeks ago, to a 1.6 Octavia, however so far its spent more time at the garage than I have spent driving it!

The first weekend I had it, the engine light came on when I drove it home, I took it back first thing the next morning. Turned out to be a problem with the airflow system over the top of the engine.

The engine light came on when I brought it back from the garage, so I took it back again. I can't remember the outcome to this one!

I had it back for a few days, and then had problems with the engine light being on, and the EPC light came on twice (causing the car to slow right down & stop / not letting me move it at all). It went back to the garage again, and it remained there whilst those problems were resolved, plus a number of other issues, rear wiper wash wasn't working, and other trim issues. The engine light and EPC light were due to wiring problems apparently.

I have had it back for a week and a bit, again the engine light came on, and the EPC light came on whilst on a dual carriageway - very un-nerving as I lost power again! The rear screenwash doesn't work again as well. It doesn't like starting when warm etc. It was plugged into the computer today and there were 5 faults, one pointing to the lamada sensor.

I have asked about a possible refund - I bought this car with the potential of keeping it for 2 years at least. I am very disappointed - what are other peoples thoughts about this? Do other people with Octavias get recurring issues with engine management lights? I have owned 4 Skodas before this one (and travelled in them all of my life), and have never been let down like this before!

Disappointed and annoyed

What dealer are you taking it to?

Get a Felicia again!!!

Its a not a dealer - its a garage that used to be a dealer and is now independant. They have been very good to me over the years, though this car is testing my patience. I have had three previous cars from them.

Not a bad idea - it has crossed my mind sisko! I'm missing my old one!

As you have had it back to them so many times and they still haven't fixed the faults properly yet, why not reject it and demand your money back in full, as it clearly isnt fit for the purpose it was sold for.I know I would, whether it upset them or not. Then, go and buy another Octavia.

Yes agree return it and get money back.Shop elsewhere:thumbup:

Agreed, Reject it and get your money back!

4thed!

Do other people with Octavias get recurring issues with engine management lights?

Yes, I have a 1.6 Ambiente and my EPC light has been on for a few years now - apparently down to lamba probes, but as that's the third thing they highlighted to resolve the issue I didn't especially want to pay out a further £250-£300 to get them replaced only for that not to work either.

Rob.

Get rid. I had nothing but trouble with my Octavia and ended up getting rid of it after 9 months, I wish I'd got rid sooner. For me, having such a bad experience with it fom the off tainted the rlationship and I don't think I was ever going to like it after that.

Cheers everyone - thanks for all of the replies. The car is still in the garage, so I am clocking the miles up on the courtesy car! I have said I want a refund should it not be right after this visit to the garage. It is a great shame as I have been waiting for years for an Octavia, and have been a big fan of Skodas for many years. This one is putting me off them!

sorry to hear of your problems with the car, sounds like you were unlucky and got a bad one :thumbdwn: hope it either gets sorted by the garage, or they give you a refund so you can go get a different Octy ! had mine 3 months and love it !!!
