12v to it from a transformer and then press the eject button, but you'd have to know the pinout.

You can but you need to remove the changer and partially dismantle it.

Remove it from the car, take all the screws out of the sides you can then remove a panel, look for the warrenty sticker to see which. Then you will need to remove the circuit board from the top and you can release the mechanism - you may have a problem if there is a disc that was being played before the power went and you'll need to push it back into the cassette.

I have some pictures at home from when I dismantled mine which I could post tomorrow. PM me if you need more help.

The changer is powered by the HU, so the only way to get the magazine out is to apply power by connecting it back to the OEM HU.

Or just putting power down the line to it if you don't have the head unit handy.

If you give it 12v where the head unit would give it 12v then hit the eject button it will eject.

take it to bits, it's more fun, specially when you drop one of the really small black screws on floor as its getting dark...

how do you get the bloody thing out of the rack in the boot?

If I will make assumptions people will indeed correct me, although if you're using a transformer to make 12v or a battery you have the +ve and -ve.

I was going to say option two was the most fun option but the bigger hammer looks more fun :)

I tried all this when I had a disk in my Sony autochanger, several days after removal! Started taking it apart, removed springs, rubber cushions, dampers.... All to find the mechanism is sealed/riveted up like Fort Knox.

So .... b*gger it, it's only an ISO connector! re-connected it to the car and hey-presto.... One ejected CD and CD cartridge.

Overall it's easier to reconnect it to the HU and/or the HU back into the car than to dismantle it.

You've not seen what I had to go through to get the current head unit in!

I'm not sure how you get the changer out of a hatchback octy, in the estate there are four torx screws which hold the changer into a big bracket, I needed to completely remove the top two before I could get the changer out because it was catching on the trim.

I post some pictures tonight of how to dismantle the changer (hopefully).
