What are the cameras?

Featured Replies

I was driving along the M57 this afternoon following my brother in laws Bmw 7 series

He was farting about and accelerating rapidly from time to time with me pacing him(I didnt know where we were going)

In the middle of one of his dashes he started to break which i mirrored because further along the motorway on a bridge going over the motorway was a parked cctv polive van,and a line of three tripod cameras dotted along the bridge pointing at each lane of the motorway.

My bro in laws says they were tax disc cameras

Ive never seen this type of set up before

Can anyone shed any light on them

ANPR, so they will pick up untaxed cars but also uninsured , stolen , wanted , etc , etc

That'll be ANPR cameras, and its quiet a common site on the M25 down here. They are after roadtax dodgers, insurance dodgers and basically anything thats flagged up on the police computer including stolen cars.

Thanks Dr

Looks like my brother in law was correct:thumbup:

Thanks mannyo:thumbup:

There should have been a bunch of coppers in the next sliproad ready to pounce on any cars that the ANPR van picks up. :) Saw a program on bbc1 a few days ago, and the van went "YABBA DABBA DOOOO!" when it picked up a dodgy car.

Yes i saw that too.Shame about the girl with the Renault Clio

I did find one bit mildly amusing - when that R32 was pulled in for illegal tints, and that chap was all "don't touch me" - and it ended up 6 coppers took him down big time and he was arrested... All for some damn window film!
