Aircon service on 1.9TDI

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Does anybody know how often the air conditioning should be serviced on a 1.9 TDI ? [ 06 model / 55000 km / service every 15k ]

Thanks

vic

Never.

Unless the condenser (the air-con rad) gets dirty with road debris (leaves, etc) you will never need a routine service on the air-con.

It's a refrigeration system and they are sealed.

The gas in it is a refrigerant which is circulated, not consumed.

So, unless it's not working properly, then you don't need to do anything to it.

Oh, and I'm a refrigeration engineer by trade so I do know a bit about air-con.

Thanks for the info

i was wondering as my previous car [ a Peugeot 306 :-( ] had to have the pollen filter replaced/cleaned every x kms

We advise every two years. The gas graduallly leaks through rubber hoses etc on a car is its a harsher enviroment than your average kitchen where your fridge lives.

Also gives a good chance to de odourise the system as bacteria builds up on the evaporator inside the car, most dealers/garages that do ac servicing will offer a sonic cleaning of some sort.

The pollen filter should be changed every 40k.
