insurance problem

Featured Replies

sms has had a shock today being told he will have to pay the excess of 250 pounds even through he isnt at fault and was originally told he wouldnt have to pay it on the phone.

Now sms cannot get 250 just like that and the garage wont release his car till he pays it. How will he get his 250 pounds back as the insurers (directline) seem to be a waste of space???

Thanks, sms will be on later.

yes my question was how do i dispute this 250 excess when im not at fault and if i have to pay it how do i get it back as i thought if you were not at fault then you didnt pay the excess?

When someone went into me a few years ago, I had to pay my full excess of £400 (I was young, ouch!) in order to get my car repaired. Eventually, after a couple of months, I got my £400 back. This was only once DirectLine had claimed back their costs from the third party's insurance company.

so it be months then :( ouch. when my astra got hit last year there was no excess to pay (not at fault) so cant understand why now ive got to pay it.

Yep basically you pay it then they give it back to you when they reclaim from the third party.

It might be worth raising stating that you want interest back on your excess if they find it non fault. Also i'd possibly try speaking to the complaints department of the insurance company if you feel the company has let you down. They will at least give you a balanced answer.

Sounds the same as every other ins co that I know of though.

cheers i will do.

Fooking insurance companies.give them hell mate till you get the right answer:thumbup:

i did yesterday and the garage neither of the two are speaking to me now

Oh good so that hit home big style then

oh yes, trying to get someone who would serve me was interesting this morning. however the high car company i couldnt sing enough praises for them and their service.
