Front anti roll bar knocking (maybe....)

Featured Replies

Hi, as well as a few other little issues i have been experiencing with my 04 vRS that acquired recently, i think may also have the front arb problem too, though i have not physically looked yet to see - but a quick search on the board would suggest this could be the source of the small knocking sound i'm getting from the front end.

I seem to get the knocking sound just ever so slightly when i turn right, and then again as i straighten up (not every time though) - haven't noticed the sound when i have turned left though... So does that sound like it might be the front arb that is knackered?

Anyway, main point of the post.....

I bought the car from a main dealer, it was a non-approved used car, and came with 3 months warranty. Will/should this be covered by that warranty?

I'm heading back to the dealer at the weekend for my leaky doors to be sorted, so if it is something i can get done under the warranty, i'd like to know so i can re-schedule and get this done at the same time. as it's 1hr 30min drive from me. If it's not covered then i can just get done locally at skoda specialist instead.....

Cheers all, this board has been an immense help to me so far....... hopefully at some point i'll have something helpfull to offer to others.....

Thanks again.

Steve

I doubt bushes will be covered mate, but worth asking.

This link tells you pretty much everything you need to know. Had the same problem with my 04 within a few weeks of purchase. If you turn your wheels to full lock you should be able to see the offending plastic collar. As per the link the revised ARB has metal collars. Hope this helps. Worth checking your console bushes whilst you're down there. Replaced mine with cupra ones at the same time as the ARB.

These cars were still being sold new in 2004 with known duff ARBs - that is out of order! The only redeeming fact is that the cars may have been buit back in 2003. I thought that VW anyway stopped fitting these duff ARBs in the factory early/mid 2003 - just goes to show VAG always meant to flush their suppliers stock out before making the change.
