What front disc brakes and pads for fabia 2001 1.9Tdi would you recommend to me? How much will it cost me?

Haynes do a DIYers repair manual - if your motor factor are Halfords do not stock it they can oder it in for you. This book is like all others, not perfect or foolproof as some mechanical ability has to be assumed. I'll leave other to give you what is what with the brakes - or use the search function - or trawl through a lot of pages!

256mm is the size you need, 5 stud obviously. You may as well just get the oem-ish ones that the motor factors sell, unless you're after serious serious performance in which you could end up spending around £200 odd on a pair of ds2500 brake pads and drilled / grooved discs.
