felicia 1.3 classic poss a stupid question!

Featured Replies

When I bought my car I was told that it didnt have the sort of cam belt that needed changing. Then today in the post I got a letter saying that it was probably due to be changed! I am very worried as I have done a lot of miles in my car! Is it about to die?

Is there a cam belt and does it need changing?

Please someone help me:eek:

all cam belts need changing i think even the old chain ones lol

Your car has a timing chain not a cambelt.

The chain has no interval to be changed, usually people change them when they can bear the rattling no more. It has no tensioner so will end up the same again given time. I've never seen or heard of a chain breaking, even if it did worst thing that would happen is I guess you may bend some pushrods whic aint the end of the world. So to sum up if it aint noisy dont worry.

ahh thank you so much. Damn the garage for scaring me like that!

Now you wind up the garage by booking it in for the cambelt to be changed!!!

This is a Skoda dealer? :D

We had a 1.3 Felicia in yesterday that had broken down (120,000 miles), the diagnosis at the moment is that the timing has slipped. I've never known this happen before, it'll be interesting to see what has happened, once the timing cover is off.

Absol fragging lutely!

I think that it is a little worn:
