i have had a service spanner come up in my dash,

it comes up for about 2 seconds when first turn the key the code says

5100 and then a spanner icon, at first i thought this was 5100 miles to next service, but as im driveing around and doing more miles this number is not changing, so now im thinking it might be a service error code, does anyone have any ideas, ive got an early Vrs on the 55 with the half dash display.

I would say 5100 miles to service, and the reason it is not changing is because it is on variable servicing and the computer is always calculating the service interval based on your driving.

It shouldn't be coming on at 5100miles without prompting. Are you pushing the reset button to make it appear? Doesn't start to show on start up till it is down to 800miles to go I think.

It doesn't count down by the mile - only changes every 100miles
