Octavia Cat Converter/Exhaust noise

Featured Replies

Mrs has just taken her Skoda Octavia 2.0 FSI in to the local garage as the exhaust is rattling. Apparently, within seconds, the fault was diagnosed as the 'catalytic convertor not working properly'. The guy proceeded to tap the convertor and explained how that was what was rattling. Estimate for work: £400 for cat and £350 for 'rest of exhaust fittings'.

The car is just over 3 years old and done approx 40,000.

Do these things tend to go so quickly or does it sound like a bit of a chancer?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I had the same situation with an Audi A4. It was indeed the cat. It sounded like a broken pot rattle. £400

mcbain70 - I'd be tempted to get a second opinion from another garage to be on the safe side.
