slightly confused about oil for fab vrs

Featured Replies

I've read through several oil recommendation posts using the search function, but still a bit confused, especially after reading my service documentation.

according to my fabia Vrs service book it is a Q60. Bit confused why it needs a designation like that?

looking over the cars history it was serviced last year but the option for variable service QG1 is unchecked(no tick against it). It was serviced 2 weeks ago by skoda and the option for QG1 has a tick against it

i intend to change the oil every 3-4 months because the more regular it is done, the better it is for any car. Would i need 505.01 VW approved oil at a viscoity of 5w 40? or something else? i kinda get the impression from skoda they dont want ppl changing the oil to often...lol

can someone plz give me some advice on this? is the fab vrs a PD engine??

thanks

Look at the label beside the wheel-well in the boot or the inside cover of the Maintenance book. You will see a three character option code, one of "QG0", "QG1" or "QG2". Then refer to the site below.

Fabia-vrs.com - PD Oil Guide

A Fabia will be on fixed interval servicing QG0 (this is likely to be the Q60 that you refer to). The current minimum VW standard for oil for the PD engine (which the VRS has) is VW504.00, oil to VW507.00 is used in variable servicing QG1 but is also suitable for a PD engine on fixed servicing.

Pop down to your local VW, Seat, Skoda or Audi dealer and ask for this part number

ZGB 115 QLB 00 462

and you will have 5 litres of suitable oil for your car.

EDIT

Apologies VW504.00 is not the relevant standard for PD engines, itis VW505.01 as stated by cheezemonkhai below.

Inaccurate information posted

Is VW 504 not the Petrol standard and 507.0 the diesel standard for the latest 5w30 DPF friendly oils.

IIRC the Fabia PD VRS can run on VW505.1 when it is being used in fixed services which is significantly cheaper than the VW507/VW506.1 stuff.

Ziss iz troo. I use the relevant variety of Castrol Edge from Hellfrauds for top-ups as it's a bit easier for me to get hold of than the VAG stuff...
