scariest drive home yet

Featured Replies

hi all

just got in from the scariest drive i think ive ever had,

the rains been so bad every road i turned down was flooded, people were just driving through but with the carbonio fitted i thought it was the end for my engine:eek:, in some parts i thought i was stuck, luckily i made my way to the highest point of each flooded section, there were even parts i was tempted to drive on the pavement, i cant believe i made it home

im gutted too ive got no tools with me to put the old airbox back on, i just hope it dries up soon.

Does your CAI take the air from down low then?

Why not put it into a semi enclosed box with a drain on it and then run the OEM air intake point into this box.

Should give a much reduced risk of getting your car soaked in the engine.

hi m8

i was tempted to make a wet weather kit for my cai but never got round to it plus i never thought i would ever see monstrous puddles and flooded roads my area is usually ok, it was just worrying at the time i thought i wouldnt get home and it was the end for my engine

i hope this doesnt put anybody off the carbonio , i love it and i was driving through the water and made it home. i know it needs to be submerged to do any damage but still i wouldnt like to find out the hard way.

Personally I wouldn't want to get a big splash into a CAI from a puddle. I've seen a couple of engines where water has got in and it isn't pretty as the steel compresses better than the water.

Sounds like you were lucky m8, The carbonio is a coolio bit of kit but clearly there is a downside.
