Exhaust Control System fault light ON..

Featured Replies

Hi all ,

Apologies again for posting with an issue.

I have an 06 plate VRS TFSI , 25k on the clock.

I was away on holiday last week , got in the car this afternoon to drive home from the airport and do a few errands with no problems (as is usual).

Then this evening , myself and the good lady were out for dinner , when the car was started the Exhaust Control System fault light has illuminated. After consulting the manual , we carried on driving - the car's performance showed no noticeable difference or "limp" mode.

When I got home , I checked the fuses (just in case) , all are still intact.

I've searched the threads on here but all those I've found refer to DIESEL models.

Any pointers as to what could be the root cause here?

Many thanks

Rich

It is possible on a petrol. I have had it a couple of times.

You should either get it scanned by a friendly local VAG-COM person, visit your dealer or call the RAC.

Has the light gone out now? It might not be a fault it just needs to be driven in the correct manner to clear the DPF.

You'll need to get the fault codes read, does a TFSI have a DPF?

Pretty sure the TFSI doesn't have a DPF.:)

When I had the problem it was always something to do with the intake manifold runner control or in that area.

The light will go out of its own accord but the effect will still be there.

Does the TFSI have a fuel temp sensor, although mine is a diesel after I had the problem and changed that sensor the problem is gone.

If the fault clears and doesnt come back then I woulnt worry, if you still have it after a day then a trip to the dealers to get the fault codes read will be on the cards.

Strange.

Car was started up this mornig - the fault light had gone out. Drove normally all day , later on , after leaving on the drive for a few hours , started the car again and no sign of the fault at all...

Thanks for all the suggestions , I'll keep an eye on it and report any further issues should they occur (fingers crossed that they don't).

Sorry my bad thought for some reason it as a 170, might have been they way it was worded exhaust control light or whatever.
