Seemed better to put this here than in 'general'

I'm after a decent keyboard of the musical variety. Must have a good Piano sound and respond a bit like a piano.

Has to be portable - so a full blown electronic piano is out of the question.

I'm drawn to the Yamaha, either PSR -E313 or the rather tasty looking NP30.

Anyone any experience of either of these? Or, even better, got one they're looking to offload, or direct me to somewhere cheap.....nothing really on ebay......

Hi Gwilo. I can't really help much. My only experience is of a Yamaha one and once the keys went sticky, it was pretty much it. It was fine for as long as it lasted though. I do have a bit of an ear so wouldn't call it "piano sound". Roland (probably should say, well of course) are/were far superior for piano sound.

One thing about Yamahas is that they seem to bring out new versions at a rate of knots so pretty worthless once superseded - you probably know that.

I wonder if any supplier near you also offers training courses - i.e. the "piano" will be in a small room rather than a massive showroom so much easier to assess its sound?

I know they change models, but my last keyboard survived 15 years, and still worked.

Tried out a 313 in a shop the other day too. Seemed acceptable for my modest needs - keep trying to tell myself I am not Rick Wakeman, 128 note polyphony is overkill......

Now I just need to find somewhere to store it along with the Strat, Violin and Sax......

Did I tell you that when my son went to the USA earlier this year, he and his friends were invited to stay with a guy with a big house and a music room that was like full of instruments? No of course I didn't tell you - silly question. He was well chuffed though

I've been using a PSR-520 for about 3 years now. Been pleased with it, but I use it mostly as a midi controller at the min as my parents have a piano downstairs.
