Service query?

Featured Replies

When I bought my car (vRS TFSI) the dealership changed the oil at 5200 miles (ex demo car) and put in the service manual the next service being 15000 miles. I've now done 6000 miles in 4 months so 11200 on the clock. Yesterday the spanner appeared saying 700 miles to go? I mainly do motorway journeys cruising between 70/80 mph and don't thrash it everywhere and always let it warm up properly and cool down. Oil levels are checked regular and topped up with castrol edge. Just wondered what if anything I'm doing wrong? This is my first modern type motor so it's all new with this main dealer service stuff. Don't know wether to change the oil myself (reset the service thingy) and then bung it into them when it's around the 15000 mile mark. Not sure about warranties as well though?

Cheers

They probably didn't reset the service light when they changed the oil, so it's probably expecting it's first oil change.

thats odd though as it should monitor the quality of the oil, so I would have thought that if the counter had not been reset and you kept putting new oil in, it would go up to the maximum two years before it said it was ready for servicing

If its still set to variable that is.

If its running fixed then the quality sensor is inactive.

I suppose you are putting the correct oil in. as i am wondering why it needs oil for such small mileage

If your car is on variable then you MUST only use the long life approve oil as per your manual.

Oil that conforms will have the number on the bottle starting VW5...

Will ring the stealer to check but I'm sure he said it was on fixed. Apparently they 'like' all the cars on that. Probably make more money!!

So far I've topped up 3 times...with Castrol edge which seems to be the right stuff for fixed?

Even on fixed, must have the correct VW code.

So I rang the dealer and he said just drive it till 15000 miles or come in now it's up to me? He also said we can put it back to long life. It's no problem. Now I'm well confused! :confused:Any advice on what to do?

Cheers
