Just fitted new N75J valve and ......

Featured Replies

.....what a diff.

on the std one I was getting a terrible jolt as the boost was releised all at once and the car felt like it stopped. this would only happen under mid accel so it was more feelable.

now I have put the new one on it is so much smoother, well worth the £48 from VW speed. there is still a slight feeling there but not really noticable, it doesnt feel to have more boost though, only feels like it releises it slower when not accelerating hard, tis hard to explain,

in sum, it is a worthwhile thing to get if you have had a remap and if you think the std N75 is on its way out.

Just remember when fitting, it goes the other way round, the long pipe goes into the air intake. then unclip the cable from the 2 plastic clips and loop it under the air intake pipe and connect to the N75J,

cheers for listening

I'm glad that you have fitted one  as I have just had my car remapped and the guy suggested they maybe a slight issue with the n75 valve as it wasnt holding high boost.

He suggested I find out about the n75j valve as some remapped octys work better with this.

If I do get one (he is getting a price for me) he says the car can go back on the rollers so see if it has made a difference.

Depends on the remap.. some like the N75j, others dont..

When i fitted one to my jabba mapped octy it made it overboost up to about 20psi.. but on light throttle it would surge a bit.. just not enough to put it into limp mode.

I have done a search on here and on the seat/golf forums about the n75 valve and there is no defo answer -some swear by it and some curse it!

Some n75j valves work and some make it worse. Its the same with the n75H valve.

Suppose its a bit like a lottery -if the valve doesnt work i will have to put it on ebay!

A new n75f may also have a positive effect, due to wear/sticking on the previous valve.

I loved my J valve but it started to overboost so the F went back on.

When it did fall just short of limp mode it read 1.4bar but went like fook:thumbup:

That was also another option to just try a new n7f type,,you havent still got your n75j valve you would like to sell?

yeah i got it but like i said after it went on the rollers it started to overboost, was fine when it went back to F valve. You can have it cheap if you want?

IIRC the J valve is slower to react to the boost. that is y it gives the impretion that it is smoother.

I think the remaps that are hard on boost will tend to overboost, and like mine that is mild on the boost will work better with it, I think that the j COULD BE DESIGNED TO OVERBOOST. bit like the corsa that has the overboost thing for overtaking.

unfortunatly the octy isnt designed for it, that is y it causes problems.

please correct if I am wrong, just my thoughts.

I have only been on a quick drive to see what it is like and so far so good, if I do get any probs ill post them up.

you got any pics of the n75 or where its placed so i no what to look for plz

Dunno about that mine gave a peak boost of 1.2bar with J and F valve. Only on and after RR day did it start overboosting to 1.4bar.

After doing vag-com logs with both valves there was very little difference in terms of boost pressure but the car felt like it had more torque with the J valve. Probably in my head.

I know different remaps differ with this valve though.

The n75J is from the old Audi quattros of the 80's and 90's and AFAIK is not currently used in any of todays cars, This is why the only vag dealer to stock them is Audi.

now ive called a few audi places and they didnt do them also they said it wasnt an audi part. wierd

lol

Well its listed on ETKA as an Audi part number but not in VW,Skoda or Seat.

Oh the official name is not N75 its something like "solenoid change over valve" or similar.

i got mine from VWspeed

been for a proper drive today and it doesnt sort the prob out completely, but it has made a big diff. i changet the coil packs a few week ago to which also helped a little.

could be the map is causing some of the things coz it is a generic one. mind you I am comparing it to a completely std car which i think is very smooth indeed just doesnt have enough go in it.

we shal see when I get the custom job fm Vsport when i go up home.
