Induction kit advice

Featured Replies

I have a K&N induction kit on my Mk1 Octy VRS. Currently in the engine bay at the top directly connected. Is it worth getting a pipe to extend the filter down into the front left corner of the bumper in front of the wheel arch?

Will this improve the cold air feed. As I do have a heat shield currently, but don't know how much it really helps.

If so, what pipe/s do i need to get and where from?

Cheers

Hi mate. Get yourself a kit off Ebay (around £40) and put the K&N on the end. Will be defo worth doing imho.

I was told that inductions kits on the VRS are a waste of money - as the stock one is a very good air intake on the VRS. I was told K & N, Greenes or Pipercross would sound different but you would get only a fractional increase in air flow if any at all. It is the worst gain in horse power for the money. In this case Less is More. Get a re-map or de-cat pipe

The best way to increase the cold air feed on a VRS is to take the complete under-tray off the bottom of the car under the engine bay- it is a pain in the backside removing and re-fitting it again at services anyway.

I'm sure there will be others on the forum who will tell you otherwise - the ones with more money than sense

:iagree: unless you want the pssst noise.

Cheers guys.

Although I already have the induction kit fitted. Mainly wondered whether it would make a lot of difference moving the filter down in front of the wheel arch to get more cold air flow.

It would definately be better located out of the engine bay...

You could try taking the bonnet off and driving around?

According to the K&N site, the typhoon kit gives just over 10hp benifit to the car. (Is this a waste of money for the benifit?)

The only difference by the pictures is that the filter is on the end of an ally pipe. The filter looks exactly the same.

Are they lying?
