Dealer servicing and a re-map.

Recommended Posts

My car is due for the 40k service so I’m taking it to Skoda to keep the remaining 5 months warranty. He mentioned that it will have all the oil and filters changed as well as a full inspection and diagnostic check. The car has had a remap. The dealer wont see this and return the car to its original map will it?

Also the car is missing the passenger seat rear rest adjuster. Will I have to purchase this or will it be covered under warranty?

Hi

I don't think the dealer would re-flash the ECU unless there is a technical bulletin from Skoda to instruct them to do that for your chassis number. There was an ECU upgrade campaign on Mk2 Octy's recently.

If the car is remapped, there are a number of ways in which they could detect it, not least with the "bum" dyno, if they don't notice a difference to a standard Furby when they drive it, then whats the point of a remap :)

IIRC the Flash counter on the ECU has probably incremented as well showing it has been reprogrammed but again they would need to "look" for it. A lot of the time a dealer diagnostic check will just be a case of checking for and reacting to any generated fault codes.

On the Seat thing, if it's fallen off and been lost and the dealer is understanding they may put it through on Warranty, that is all up to having an understanding dealer.

hope this helps

Cheers mate that is great.

I will be so angry if the re flash the ECU because I drives really really nice!

The 40k service is £320!!! I asked what you got for that and he said all filters and oil. Do you think they will flush the intercooler for that?

On the Fabia there is no reflas , so you will be OK

Make sure that they quote you for everything all in , as they could find something else for you to spend your money on

Oh and you dont HAVE to take it to a Skoda dealer for service to keep it within warranty

No - but buyers prefer to see dealer stamps if the car's still in warranty :o

Not that there's anything wrong taking it elsewhere, but your average man on the street might question who Awesome are (for example - could be any of the reputable tuners/garages)

I'm tempted to take it to my local VAG specialist. But since there are a few months warranty left if they spot anything I can get it sorted there and then.

On a side note sold my 106 GTi today... really quite gutted. Loved that car!

I'll be making a trip to Awesome over the next year or so for some faster bits ;)

Hi Mate

Pop down and see us

I must admit , on the last one in warranty , I will hold my hand up and say , go to a dealer for the MOT

1 month before it runs out of warranty

Then if it fails on anything , it is still in warranty ;)

It is always good to have a chat with a fellow Briskodian
