Cruise control question, brain inop!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first of all great site, full of excellent stuff.

I have an '03 Fabia Elegance 1.9TDiPD and I came across the cruise control fit on Stu's excellent Fabia-VRS site. I was hoping to fit one but I checked the board controller today at work and it's a bally 6q2. Does this mean I can't fit cruise control full stop or is there another way?

Also looking on the Soda official accesory site they sell a complete kit part number BEA400002. The text from the description of the product is as below:

Cruise ControlPart Number: BEA400002Suitable For: FabiaInformation: Fitting Restrictions Please note that for vehicles built after 01/2007 with the onboard power supply unit 6Q2 937 049 it is not possible to fit the cruise control kit due to technical problems. Please check the chassis number with ETKA to see if the build of the vehicle includes this power supply unit.

For vehicles built prior to 01/2007 retrofitting of the cruise control kit is possible if the vehicle includes on of the following options headlamp washers

heated and electrically controlled mirrors

electrical sunroof

heated seats

automatic gearbox.

Product Details: The Škoda Cruise Control kit will enable you to keep your speed constant over 30 km/h offering all of the functionality of the factory fitted option.RRP: £65.00

So according to that description it should go on mine as it has heated seats and electric door mirrors. Could one of the cruise control experts enlighten my dim brain as to whether the Skoda kit will fit and if it does will it need software configuration?

Many thanks.

PS.Excuse this basic posting, it's the first one I have ever done!!

If its a 6Q2 load controller then you are out of luck.

I must admit I'd be surprised if an Elegance had a 6Q2 Boardnetz Controller. Might be worth dropping it out and checking the actual number on it.

That's great guys, thank you for your replys.

I made some more enquiries with our friendly Skoda parts supplier today and he said by chassis number i should have a 6Q0 controller.

I think I will take Stu's reccomendation and have a physical look at the part number as it does seem puzzling that an elegance of that age is 6Q2. I'm sure I went into the right controller with VAG (no 9) but I could easily have made a mistake.

I know I'm going to be looking under the RH side of the dash after removing the covers but is anyone able to give me a couple of identifying features of the control unit i need to look at so i get the right part number?

Many thanks.

Its square, black and has two rows of connectors on it, one row on each side.

I'm one happy bunny! Found the unit straight above the throttle pedal with the XS3 socket for the Skoda cruise kit fit and the part number is 6Q1 937 049C. Goodness knows how I got the other number but looks like I'm good to go. Many thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

Excellent - Good luck with the install.

Hi everyone

Need some quick help. Got my official Skoda cruise kit and in the process of fitting. All has gone well so far but am trying to work out exactly where the white wire goes into terminal board T11 as per instructions, not terribly clear.

Have found the terminal board with a mixture of bewilderment and how the heck do i get to that astonishment! I'm looking at the only white plug in the top row (after deciphering instructions) of the board and then to put the terminal in the only remaining space in the connector (top middle), is this correct? I thought it's best to double check as I have lost large amounts of skin removing this connector!!

The plug will have pin numbers marked on it.

T11a Pin 10 IIRC.

Hello everyone I see that people were able to get along with the installation of cruise control I would love you to tell me how to get to t11a to install the white thread .

Does anyone know what it is for?

Your gonna need a time machine to find out. This thread was started 7 years ago :D

I'm sure he's sick of messages by now, but a member called Tech1e could help.

I have no choice, I'm stuck.

Thanks. I will try. [emoji106]

I've just fitted Cruise control and have a 6Q2 Module.  I read this thread and realised I couldn't use it, but I bought a 6Q1 and dropped that in there.. Cruise Control now works fine, along with everything else, except boot won't unlock... Any ideas would be much appreciated!  I guess it needs VAGCOM to reprogram it, but have tried so many codes to no avail

Thanks,

A
