vrs grille, help needed!

Featured Replies

Quick question.

Due to an unfortunate incident I don't want to talk about(!), I've just had the front of my Octy mk1 vrs repaired.

There is though one outstanding issue, the vrs grille badge. All the new parts were ordered by the garage by vin number but the vrs badge has no obvious means of being attached. It has the main logo part with an adhesive backing and a flat plastic mounting plate but no way of attaching this to the grille.

We (the garage and I) have come to the conclusion that either the grille supplied is wrong and the correct grille should have a recess for the badge to be fitted to, or tha badge is incorrect and should have some kind of mounting kit (hooks or something similar).

Any ideas? Anyone replaced their grille badge or able to see on their car how it's attached?

Many thanks!

I think it just double sided tape iirc. Peel off the backing tape and stick it on.

Not sure about the Octy, but i know on the Fabia, it's just glued in place.

Just looked at mine and it is indeed just glued on. It stands proud of the vertical grille bars and spans three of them. Good glue, I guess!

When I changed to a Mk2 badge I used Araldite.

its funny just reading this thread as i work for a parts company and i had to deliver a vrs badge for a mk1 the other day and it got the bodyshop bloke scratching his head wondering how he was gonna fix it lol. It was a silver mk1 vrs.

cowper3010 - just seen your location, it wasn't a delivery to a garage in Woking was it? Mine's silver...

Araldite. :)

That's real Araldite, not "Araldite Rapid"!

yeah it was a garage in woking so it must have been your car i sore.

i have modded mine and mine was bonded on, when i looked at the back of the grill there was a change in the edging neer the badge, looked like it was made to be there. hard to explain but looked like it wasnt just glued on

The double sided adhesive backing is good enough to keep it fixed to the grill. I replaced mine, made sure surfaces were grease and dirt free and just stuck it on. Still there after 6 months.

I just used regular superglue to fix mine on. I filed down the back of the badge a bit first just to roughen the surface a bit. Been on a couple of months now and no problems.

I changed my grille a while ago and bought the std part direct from skoda. The old one that came with the badge on has a slightly different bit where the badge goes. it looks flattened down slightly.

The new grille did not have this. The guys at Skoda also were scratching their heads as to why this is, but they only do one part to replace. Get a bit of wet and dry and file the grille slightly flatter to accomodate the badge I say, then stick on.
