Radiator fans v temp

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I wanted to check that my rad fans were working this morning so I went for a short drive and parked up on the drive leaving the engine running.. 15 mins later after I had cleaned the insides of my windows while waiting they still had not turned on, BUT my temp guage hadnt gone past 90 either.

How long should it take for the motor to get hot enough for the fan to cut in? Just wondering if my temp guage is not showing true? What temp do the fans come on?

Thanks guys, just want to put my mind at rest.

The fans on my vRS are almost silent. I never hear them cutting in like I have on previous cars. If it's staying at 90 then I wouldn't worry.

Thanks, thats encouraging. When I was trying to test it this morning I had the bonnet up and was watching them so I would have known about it if they did turn on.

Best way to try and get the fans to come on (if possible) is to drive at high revs and low speed up a long steep hill, then park up at the top.
