Ive not tryed these tyres but have heard there not a bad tyre, what size you getting them in and what sort of price?

That new Hankook tyre seems to be causing a bit of a stir in the German car press at the moment. The Hankook V12 Evo seems to be kicking most of the big brand names into touch in the tyre tests and for only £54.50 delivered in 205/55R16 (My size) from Camskill I know what I will be trying.

P.S.I don't work for Hankook, but these do look a cracking tyre for the price.

That has a similar tread pattern to the Kumho KU31's. Wonder if they're all made at the same factory

The Quadtrac3 does shockingly in those tests considering it's an all seasons tyre I'd have expected better in the wet.

I'll be needing 225/40/18 tyres fitted when I go. I can't remember the price I was quoted, but I don't think they were too expensive.

Coming a bit late into this thread but Matchmaker shouldn't new tyres go on the rear?

I'd agree with dieselV6 about Nokian tyres. I think they cope very well with puddles. Since using them (both summer and winter types) I've not felt myself "dragged into them" or aquaplanning, I can just keep driving as though it is not there.

Thats what a lot of people say.

It depends. Some people have the newer ones at the front.

I did rotate mine (the spare included) but now currently I have the oldest tyres with good tread on the front and new Fulda Eco-contacts on the back.

I also rotated the tyres on my sisters car cause the Pirellis on the rears were getting old and tired looking despite having decent tread left. But I moved them to the front to wear them down more. Think hers needs all round new tyres sometime this year though.

I think it also depends on what tyres you have. My Dad bought a set of really cheap tyres for his Honda and he said the car felt jittery and not as grippy in the wet as it previously did.

New tyres on the rear of a powerful front wheel drive car, rather than on the front??

I can see that it would be safer for people that find it easier to control understeer than oversteer. But that's a kinda lame excuse!

Personally I want maximum grip where it counts, on the wheels that turn me, and the wheels that power me.

If your rears are getting a bit bald, just don't lift off mid-corner in the wet. It hurts!

I have only had the rear of my Skoda slide once and that was the day after I bought the car and the tyres did have decent tread too. how did it slide? well I went round the bend at 30mph, the rear lost grip and whipped the car round.

The safest option is not push your car too hard in the wet, know its handling in all conditions and you should be alright.

Have I spun again? no.

I couldn't afford all 4 at once. The first two went on the front as I suffered severe lack of traction - at all times, in all conditions :(:(

Wheelspin at 70 in 3rd on a wet road is a PITA - and thats with the remap off

I just thought I'd open a discussion about "new tyres go on the rear" having watched the video I'd linked to above. I've heard this discussed a lot and thought the video was interesting and IMHO fairly conclusive. Maybe you're a better driver than VBH I'm still not sure being a good driver changes the physics.

Bodge you say "if your rears are getting a bit bald, just don't lift off mid-corner in the wet". That sounds great advice for the race track. Sometimes in the real world you go round a bend (at least here) to find a sheep in the road. Then you might have to do more than lift off. At least a skid when accelerating (I'm not counting winter conditions here) is unlikely to cause the car to go out of control but just accelerate a bit slower.

Update - now have KU31's all round :thumbup:

Sore shoulder and weather permitting, new rear discs going on tomorrow :):)

I'll bet you're glad :). I think you've reaffirmed my belief that tyres are worth spending money on.

My housemate's car after a Triangle blew out at 3 weeks old:

He found the ditch, the central reservation, the ditch again, and a 40' motorway lamp post.

So, good call on getting rid of the Triangles. They should be banned.

SMofJ!!!:eek::eek: I am running Dunlops, do I need to change?? When?
