Boost Gauge

Featured Replies

Im just looking at fitting a boost gauge to my fabia vrs and wanted to know where you run the pipe off of, to read the pressure?

All pics welcome, Thanks

Inlet manifold and the large black boost pipe at the left of the engine bay are the 2 most popular spots.

Failing that, an allard egr removal pipe has a small nipple in place for boost pipe.

What would i do just drill a hole in it and attach some kind of connection 2 the pipe for the gauge. onto the allard egr is this a common and worth while mod and do you need to be worried about anything when doing this?

AS on there site is says the following -

There are two main draw backs from having this on your car. One, is that by allowing hot exhaust gas to pass back in to your inlet system you lower the effective combustion achieved, as an engine will always combust better on cold dense air (see Allard Intercoolers). Secondly, the soot from EGR mixes with the oil vapor produced by the turbo and forms a paste which sticks to the inlet manifold and ports and reduces the flow, in effect causing the engine to strangle itself.

That's talking about the EGR.

Two disadvantages of the allard pipe - often throws a CEL light that needs mapping out, and you lose the ASV, which is more significant than i first thought after reading a few things...

really what is ASV?

and how does it effect it?
