Omg i bought a skoda, but how good is the car

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am Phil from the Manchester area. Just bought a 2004 Octavia VRS.I have a little one so mrs still wanted a nice sensible family car, so what could be better. I just need a little help of any tech boys, or ladies as i have a few little questions. I apologise in advance if these are already posted on the forum.

Under the bonnet on the left hand side there is a black container. it sits between the washer and coolent bottles and next too the power steering fluid. Intermitantly it makes a clicking noise while the engine is running and i can feel a vibration while its doing this through a pipe connected to it. What is the plastic box for and is that normal.

I have just bought a bailey diverter/ re circulating valve to replace the standard plastic one. are they a ball ache to fit. any advice or fitting instructions on this.

what is the best oil to use, i intend servicing it around every 10 - 12k.

lastly the car i have bought is a 2004 53 plate. it has had one previous owner and has 40k on the clock. is there anything i should be worried about, checking, and is 60k the best time to change the cam belt.

sorry for the questions and your advice would be grately appreciated. cheers Phil

Isn't it 4yrs or 60k ?

It was but VAG changed it to 40k or 4 years as they had a load go around the 4 year mark and pre 60k (so I was told in another thread by an Audi Tech)

do a search on here and you should find the post I got my info in but it's defo been changed for all VAG models
