Picking my '57 plate Octavia vRS Estate up today as a fun but practical replacement for my much loved but socially unacceptable Monaro VXR... ...it won't be the same but I'm looking forward to doubling my fuel mileage

What's "socially unacceptable" about a Holden Monaro? I mean, anyone who says that about, say, a Porsche (well other than the dog ugly SUV) is envious and/or an environ mentalist!

Absolutely nothing socially unacceptable so long as you're not either a) a tree hugger and object to 16mpg or noise sensitive - 110db was considered unacceptable by most track day organisers ;-(. We won't mention 170+mph...

...none of which worried me even a little bit until I took on a role - which without realising it at the time I saw the ££££ (!) - one responsibility of which is to encourage people to reduce their carbon footprint, and then I started feeling a tad hypocritical...

I object to 16mpg SUVs, cos the fuel could provide much more fun in something like a Monaro!
