Let down by DM Keith in Leeds....AGAIN!

Featured Replies

from getting the suprising call last week for them to put any probs on the car right they have yet again failed.

my stereo has been playing up for ages, been in 2 seperate times for the problem still not to be solved, so i thought seen as they rang me id give it another go. now ive not had a courtesy car before as ive only just turned old enough to have one but is it the norm to get it with only enough fuel to get 100 yards? however thats not the problem, having not heard from them all day to let me know the situation, it took me to ring them at 4.30 to ask where my car was and when it was going to be ready. i was told all service members are busy could they give me a call back so i said ok. 25 minutes passed before id had enough and rang back

again was told service was busy and were either with customers or on the phone, fotunately i was parked outside the branch because i work close and could see not one customer inside so i said i wanted to speak to somebody asap and will be holding the line until so

10 minutes later a guy comes on the phone, "yeah youre stereo is not working correctly because of interferance from taxi radio wire" (from when i had it as a taxi) so i said well its been in with this problem numourous times before it was a taxi so what was the problem them times "oh......" was the reply followed by "we have found a hole in the rubber round your boot lid do you want it sorting?" you can guess my response

i went in to get the car and as i could see from outside the service members were sat around waiting for 5.30 to come, none on the phone, none with customers

and if you are thinking like i did on my way home why were they looking in the boot when the stereo is the problem? maybe theres a reasonable explanation, although i doubt it

also the first thing i checked was my trip computer, they decided the stereo needing a look at 4.5 miles away coz they had put 9 miles on and the fuel consumption over that distance....27.3MPG!!!

i had a low opinion of that place before but now its hit rock bottom, never again will i go there and spend hard earned money to be treated like a **** head and have my time wasted.

nice to have a little rant but it isnt going to solve the problem

wich one is it, Hunslet road? if so send us a pm and will try my symphony on yours, could be just a knackered sterio

Whats the problem with the stereo?

Driving your car 9 miles thats discraceful.

And with that mpg, they much have ragged the balls off it.

I would complain to their managers.

AND...

I think all Briskodians should veto that Garage.!

Thats made me really angry... if that was my car i would go nuts.

Michael

lets get a convoy together lol

yes its the one on hunslet road, bent over backwards for me when buying the car but after... you know the rest!

also forgot to add that theyve taken the manual and service book thing, you know the black plastic book full of books, out of my glove box. coz they arent there now. incompetance and theivery! i call for hanging drawing and quartering!

the stereo reception is shocking, constantly fading and crackling, checked station frequency, fine, and the other setting like the one that gets louder as your engine does. also have a real problem with radio aire, as well as bad reception will just randomly go to minster FM which i checked is a york station! and im in leeds, dm keith quote "thats normal"

got to love that technology, oh and the fact when i was on about the stereo the first question i got asked was "is it chipped?" WTF does that matter with a stereo

will be complaining to both dougal keith himself and trading standards, not that it will get very far but at least ill get it off my chest a bit

they will help u buy a car, but repairing it, you would have to take away the tea and bikkies, as before the offer to use my symph as test is welcome.

go back, take your manual and tell them you are going else where and are reporting the lack of progress and cs to the hr dept

cheers andy i may just have to take you up on the offer unless i get something new in the forseeable future, i was really getting into the idea of getting a roomster as its more of a family car but theyve lost themselves a sale there, is there any other dealerships in west yorkshire thats not a dm keith

if its servicing you want, there is a place in Bramley. my uncle takes his there all the time. Or for sales i am not too sure there is a non DM in west yorks, will find out for ya

DM Keith have got the hold on West Yorkshire, unfortunately. My bad experiences are well chronicled on here.

Can recommend one dealer in South Yorks if thats any help - Bickerton's.

You need to complain to Angus Keith about the poor service. When I complained about vandalism to my car when they had it in for warranty work he told me that they have CCTV in the workshops.

Hope you get it sorted. Best I got offered was a free service (oil and filter one) so I took my business elsewhere and havent looked back.

Playing devils advocate (as I normally do) if you have a radio reception problem then I would say them getting in the boot would be fairly obvious. The aerial is back there.

9 mile road test would only be two trips out, and if i was looking for interferance then that wouldnt be abnormal. As for MPG peoples driving style varies. If the MPG was reset prior or during the road test then even at 9 miles I doubt it would have had time to build up anykind of realistic figure.

I'm not denying the dealeship may or may not be toss but being as they aren't hear I usually stand up for the dealer. Not all of us are out to rip people off or do a bad job. Sometimes there are just problems with communication between departments etc.

It is normal for the radio to retune to the stronger signal of a station from the same group i.e. I live on the london/kent border and receive Capital, but it often switches to it's Kent counterpart invicta. Can be a handy feature if you travel round the country, but is annoying when driving locally.

I think you can turn it off, but can't remeber how. It is in th instruction manual.

It's not the first time this lot have used cars in their 'care' as personal taxis. Another members car on here was seen driving past my house whilst they 'test drove' it and I'm 10 miles away. They were not heading back either.....

Shame as they were quite accomodating with all my warranty claims.

SWMBO's radio in her fabia vrs does just the same. We live in wakefield and don't have too many reception problems there but when she heads down to work in Penistone the reception becomes quite bad and if I take it to work in Sheffield I turn it off because the reception is appauling, yet if we go to our parents house (York or Selby) it's fine and don't get any problems. I would say it's partly down to how strong the radio station signals are and part down to the cars ability to pick up the radio reception.

I seem to remember having the same problem with my old octi vrs and I changed the Head Unit and also fitted an amplifier to the ariel and never had any problems with it after that.

I can't comment on DM Keith for the service dept but I have bought parts through them without fault.

it's AF or Alternate Frequency.

It's under the Menu on an Octy II and easily turned off. Will be why it goes to Minster FM.

9 Miles seems fair to get a reasonable spread of FM coverage to me too.

Playing devils advocate departments etc.

In the general case I'd agree; I've rarely heard anything positive about DM Keith's "Service" department though.

27 mpg or so doesn't strike me as that unusual for a "trip mpg" figure for 2 shortish in-town journeys, with maybe a stop to play with the radio part-way through.

Go and see The lads up at wakefield D M keith are miles ahead of the leeds branch in customer service.

I know most of the lads up there, Chris the service manager is spot on and will bend over backwards for one of his customers.

I too feel out with the leeds branch. Set of total *******. the service people are horrendous!!! they havent got a clue. Damaged my car and then total denied all knowledge....****3rs

  • Author

yes they are, the "mechanics" look for any excuse not to do the work and the service people are utter *******, when i went in they were all stood there staring really smugly like it was some joke. ill never go there again

and to respond to the whole mileage issue, if i was an audio technician, and there was a problem with radio once getting in the car and seeing the taxi radio cable and if this was the cause then there would be no need to take my car out on a 9 mile trip, also at leeds branch theres 2 ways to go, 1 towards m/way or other to leeds centre, i went leeds centre way today to see if they had a defense with 27mpg and no they havent, i took it and drove how i normally would through the traffic yet still averaged 31.3mpg with air con on and i dont drive like a pensioner either

and skud i would believe they damaged your car coz they knacked my drivers seat in and claimed to not know why it was like that just a month after i bought it, should have seen the sign from that point

I think the DM Keith Leeds partnership must be training the DM Keith Huddersfield partnership. I was in Huddersfield this morning an popped in to see if the had some parts in stock but was met with a rude/arrogant man who wasn't helpful and wouldn't check to see if he had the parts in stock before he took my money. I then said "I'm not from round here and if they're not in stock I will order them from a nearer dealer which is why I would like you to check they're in stock before I pay" his response was "go and buy them elsewhere then"

I wish they were still Lightcliffe, they were such a nice bunch of people. As a result DM Keith didn't get my business.

DM KEITH, if your reading this, SORT YOURSELVES OUT, your customer approach is appauling.

To top it all off one of your salesmen made a comment about the floor being dirty and he would have to clean it after my kids were in your showroom. IT WAS RAINING and as such the were only wet shoe marks and they only walked from the door to the parts desk.

thats disgraceful, i think since i got my car from them 2 years ago theres a massive difference, they were so so back then and now they just seem like they dont want business, theyve lost anymore out of me and seems like you wont be either

in leeds other day i was sat there booking my car in and one of the service people came up to the guy who was taking my details and proceeded to tell him of how she went into canteen and found angus keith swearing and carrying on, what must he have been mad about, the fact all his staff are incompetant arseholes

Crikey definitely the devils advocate there.

Just as well car dealers don't also work in gynaecology. ("You told them you had a problem and then they did WHAT!!!")

Exactly my point!

Of course what you could do is specify that you're buying on the basis of immediate delivery only: Then if they're not in stock, demand your money back with a threat of a breach of contract claim if you don't get it.

I took it upon myself yesterday, 15/08/08, to send Emails to sales@dmkeith, parts@dmkeith & dmkeith@dmkeith as below.

Whether they reach their target of Mr DM Keith, remains to be seen.

Please forward direct to Mr DM Keith

Mr Keith,

Have you seen the slagging off that your Company is getting on the Briskoda forum.

Some of it looks to be well deserved - judging by your after sales 'so called' personnel.

I think it needs a direct reply from yourself posting on the Forum.
