Vectra 1.8i 16V Life

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Quick review.

I have been given a 08 plate Vectra 1.8i 16V Life as a courtsey car while my superb is in the bodyshop after someone drove into the back of me.

Initial thoughts were...its a vectra...GREAT! However, this is day 3 of driving it and living with it and I'm really impressed.

Downsides:-

1.8i 16V, 136BHP...0-62- 10.6 or something...big difference from my 1.8T 150bhp it seems. Its getting better now I'm used to it, but it has no pull.

Seats are nowhere near as supportive and comfortable as my superb seats.

No good toys (parking sensors, climate control, trip computer)

No Cupholders (Repmobile with not 1!!!)

Positives:-

Drives amazingly, cornering is fun and its just fun!

Lots of space

Controls are really easy, stereo is actually quite good for standard poverty spec

I really like it, its black too :) I am seriously considering selling the Superb and having a Vectra...I never thought I would say it but I really like it. Seats are pants but I'm sure I can change them!

Give over.....

Shouldn't this be in off-topic along with all the other joke threads? :D

No it's.. Vectra 1.8i 16V I Have No Life

HTH :D

Give over.....

lmao

The life is a terrible spec. We do a lot of very late used Vauxhalls here and if you must have one either get a special edition model like the Active or something. Or try to get yourself into a Design or Elite model. They do have nicer seats and a very good spec, and because they are Vauxhalls you can have a £25k car for basically half price after a year or so.

This can't be - Another Joke thread :D

I've never thought they are as bad as some people make out. Not a patch on my octy and you'd be mad to buy one new but serviceable transport if you're not fussy.

It depends if you want a decent German built car or a Vauxhall!

how can anyone with:

Skoda Octavia 1.6 Ambiente 17" Alloys, vRS spoiler, clear lights

in their sig... takr the pi55 out of a vectra.....

No, no joke, I really do like it.

My Superb is great but it is getting on a bit...it dosen't handle anywhere near as good as the vectra, drive as smoothly or feel as well built.

I have always vowed never to have a Vauxhall, but now things have changed. I'd certainly consider one...maybe even a Meriva if it was a VXR :)

maybe even a Meriva

A joke's a joke, but you can stop now :P

Since when is a Superb built in Germany?

Since when is a Superb built in Germany?

Maybe they could start building it near Opel's headquarters in Germany? Or under license in one of Opel/Vauxhall's three German factories? :rubchin:

You will be pleased to know that normal service has resumed. I got the Superb back today. I have realised that the Vectra isn't a patch on my car, apart from the Vectra being a bit more fun to drive.....new shocks on the superb might fix that :)

Either way, it's time to start thinking about a change...hmmmm

You can get high spec, high power Vectra's very cheap even when relatively young. Not sure what the VED would be though.

i had an sri version a month of so ago and thought it was slow, noisy and crap on handling. much prefer my octy!!

I'm feeling something british and diesel coming on....

I've looked at economy, tax and size and can only see one thing that ticks those boxes. Just need to drive one now to find out if it can be "fun"

I don't want a BMW, Mercedes or Audi. I want something understated that will hopefully be reliable and fun.

All will be revealed soon, hopefully!

I had a 57 plate Astra 1.4 life as a loan car for nearly two weeks not that long ago. Suprisingly pleasant actually. OK, pretty basic, but fairly comfortable and while it felt cheap, it seemed quite well screwed together. Handling was entertaining, although it rolled far too much. Engine was pretty hopeless though - thirsty and slow (my current 2.0 petrol manages a better motorway mpg by quite some margin).

Ultimately quite a lot for the money though and to be honest, having been in a 3 year old one too recently, it felt a lot fresher designed than a 3 year old Octy is.:o

You need a Roomster Scout 1.9tdi. It will tick all your boxes and more
