Been looking into it mate.

First off, the pipe from the turbo intake to the airbox (circled in the photo in blue)

P1000680-1.jpg?t=1218748134

This pipe is too long in order to replace it with an induction kit AND be able to get a decent cold air feed to it.

I am looking into replacing this pipe with a shorter silicon item to enable the easier fitment of an induction kit and cold air feed.

As for the BMC CDA, I believe you need the CDASP-09 kit.

I had a universal 85-150 and it did not fit, and looked quite small.

My friend has one on his Fabia, the old Star Performance bits and bobs so im going to have a spy at that, he has a feed to the OEM feed and battery still in place

Heres a pic of it

Im gona have a nose tomorrow and sus it out

I have one, but me relieving my engine bay of the battery meant I could still get a cold air feed without worrying about the black pipe.

Get some pics up mate.

But I still think that the pipe ive circled needs to be replaced with a shorter item of about half the length of the original.

This would give you A LOT more space to wack a big old kit in there, and enable better air flow.

Its just sourcing a suitable part?

I was looking at silicon 45 degree bends - 80mm internal diameter, but not sure if they would fit?

Looks to me like he has a shorter pipe fitted there as the kit sits very close to the engine cover.

Pic uploaded, i'll get some pics of it close up. Wonder if its the CDASP-09 kit though?

If you look at where that kit sits, and where jase's kit sits, he must have replaced the intake hose. There was a picture of one on an ibiza on seatcupra

ill get the pic

Pics to see where your getting the cold air feed from would be ace

Here we are.

Here is a pic from seatcupra.net

It is the BMC fitted to the 1.9 TDI

But look at the hose I have circled in blue

This one has been replaced with a shorter one - giving a LOT more room for the cold air intake.

It is just a question of where can you get one of these shorter pipes?

Hmm interesting, i'll have to have a look at my mates and report back

If you can find out what size pipe he got, report back as I am looking for one

This is mine now. See how the BMC uses the original air intake pipe, but the feed to the BMC comes around the engine bay and in front of the new W/M kit, and terminates (more or less) where the stock air intake pipe gets its cold feed from :)

Hmm looks like a shorter pipe is most definitely needed, maybe worth a phone call to Star performance to see how they have done it

How do they sound then Jase('s)?

I could so with one too, around 1" shorter to at least have a straighter connection to the T.I.P. Not too fussed right now as it does the job. Would like a sexy blue silicone hose. Sound is just an induction noise, but hopefully when it's remapped again it will be better.

Absolutely amazing, really powerful, sounds ace, i have the PD160 and green cotton intake already but the fact im willing to spend £170 on a BMC just shows how much i like it

i like the look of these but its a lot of money for an air intake seems to be a hassle to fit.

would like to hear one though to see how it sounds.

Very nice nothing like i thought. Sounds like a proper induction kit on a powerful petrol lets say :)

Hi,

Looks really good!

Maby it will be a BMC filter in the future :)

Have a question about the pipe you have mouthed for the EGR.

Did you take the dampers away also? (EGR and ...)

Any problems with taking it away?

The gain of it?

Sorry for bad english but it is not so easy, hope you understand :)

any one got a video of the sound of bmc? I'm too interested in one of these, only got my vrs yesterday and the changes are already in place! Got to say though i love it already!

You cannot hear my BMC from outside really - The exhaust drowns it out

RSI - You are referring to EGR and the ASV <--- Anti Shudder Valve. Fine to take it out but it makes stopping the engine a bit rougher, nothing that I mind.
