Octavia II Rear Distance Parking Control - Retrofit

Featured Replies

Has anybody fitted the genuine Skoda kit ZGB000052296 ?

Do you have the instructions ?

The reason I am asking is that my car has a towbar fitted and I don’t want the system bleeping in reverse when towing, the factory fit system is disabled when towing but I don't know if the retrofit system is the same.

I also see from searching this forum that the genuine Skoda kit is actually the same as the Cobra AM0158 system but the Cobra system is £50 cheaper. If there is no additional wiring / circuitry in the genuine kit to disable the bleep when towing then i may as well go for the cheaper Cobra system.

Or the even cheaper systems on eBay.

The Skoda kit, if it's the OEM one will display the distance bar graph on the Stream display, which is really nice. If they say it doesn't do that it's not the OEM, so go for the cheaper option, no point wasting money.

If it's the OEM retrofitted it will be disabled when reversing while towing. Not sure how the aftermarket system will pull it off.

Hmm...I thought you couldn't get the display to work if the sensors are not fitted as a factory accessory.

If you're retrofitting the parking sensors, even they're being the same OEM kit, you can't get the distance display on Stream/Audience. You'll only get the beeps.

Don't ask me why....

Yup, got mine retro-fitted and only have the beeps. Don't miss the display as when I'm reversing I want to be looking backwards not at the dashboard :P

And you'll lose the graphics if you upgrade to sat nav system :)

Haven't really missed the display, the perks of mfd2 more than adequately cover one missing parking sensor display :) Still have the beeps and they're enough for me.

Thanks for the information regarding the interface with the Stream display.

I still need some info regarding the towbar with the retrofit kit.

Does anybody have a copy of the installation instructions for the Skoda retrofit kit ???
