Variable Servicing?

Featured Replies

I bought my 12 month old Mk2 vRS in June 2007 with 5500 miles and had the first "variable" service carried out at 7700 miles in August 2007. I was told it was this early as the first owner hardly used the vehicle, which was fair enough. However, I have recently noticed that my service indicator is now showing 900 miles or 18 days to the next service.

According to the Service Manual, the vehicle appears to be set on variable service but is it just a conicidence that I have done just over 9000 miles and near as dammit 12 months since the first service was carried out?

I have read on other threads that some dealers forget to switch from fixed to variable schedules and I wonder if this may be the case with me?

it does sound very likely that your car is on fixed servicing and always has been from new. Lack of use will not bring on the indicator any sooner, and on variable you should get to around 18K miles or somewhere around 2 years before needing a service.

I had mine on my oct mk1 changed to variable last year and 12 months to the day the service indicator has come back on. I have only done 7000 miles and my Skoda dealership swear blind that it was on variable. Does not sound very variable to me, exactly 12months to the day!!!
