Tyres

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of buying these:

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 205/45 R16 W

Anyone know if they're any good? Also I'm thinking of getting them from Blackcircles.com has anyone used their online service before?

Cheers

Eagle F1's have been rated very highly by anyone i've known to use them.

Yeah, on my old 306 forum all the GTi owners swore by them.

This company sells a GSD2 and a GSD3... difference???

gsd-3's are the newer style, get them.

**** hot tires :)

another in agreement here :)

GSD3s it is.

Will I have adverse handling with these on the front and some alpha things on the back? The backs have got quite a lot of tread and don't really wanna fork out for 4 tyres.

Will be fine, i'd rather have the better ones on the front

Highly reccommend these tyres - I have just done done 2 days at the Nurburgring Ring and they (for a road tyre) were outstanding. Near the back end of my laps I was sliding a bit but overall it did a cracking job.

I have heard nothing but good things about the goodyears. I use blackcircles, have always been competitive for price, and a huge number of garages to choose from for fitting, i would recommend them. Their confirmation email, with ref number required for fitting did end up in my gmail spam folder though.

The Goodyears are fantastic unless it's snowy or they're not warmed up.

I'm trying the Toyo's this time round, but have a hunch I'll be back to the Eagles after they wear out.

This is so true. They are lethal in snow which is why they are currently fitted as my summer tyres. Other than that they give good fuel economy and longevity. They are very good in the wet and even better in the dry. I think the only draw back is I have found the sidewalls to be a little soft when pressing on. However on my current vehicle this is less of an issue and they are excellent. The Toyos where my favorite on my VRS, they where much better on the track.

F1s are my favourite tyre.

Had nothing but these on my Alfa 145.

That said, the Conti SportContact 2s on my vRS aint too shoddy either and I'll likely go for them again when they wear out.

Given the choice though, and infinite funds, I'd rather have four new F1s.

Bad news, black circles only has an 83w in Eagle F1s not a 87w which I apparently need. The only good ones they have are Yokohama C-Drives or TR-1 Proxes.

Are these any good?

And do I really need 87w or will I be alright with 83w???
