Socket 478M / 479 motherboard

Featured Replies

One for the hardcore tech crowd this....

I've just dismantled a borked Tosh laptop and salvaged a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo processor - (T7200)

The socket on the board says 478M, which, as far as my research tells me is a 479 or Socket M affair.

But I'm struggling to find a reasonably priced (ie sub £100) motherboard so this can be re-used in some sideline project.

Any tips? ebay isn't really the way I want to go for tech gear.

If the suggested board also uses SODIMMS, it's would be even better.........

look on the Mini-ITX sites as this chip was popular in building those sorts of systems.

Done that......£130-160.........eyewatering.

I was hoping for something a bit cheaper - I know the CPU itself, assuming it works, is worth that much again, but if it's the CPU that's fried (unlikely, I don't get anything from the machine, not even a POST telling me no CPU) I'd rather not have dumped £150.
