Software question?

Featured Replies

I think i already know the answer, but can people confirm something for me.

I have a PC (which i will be selling) on which i have installed Photoshop 5.0.

What i want to do is unstall it and then install it on a new laptop.

Is this possible and legal.

It is a genuine copy which i purchased.

PM me if you want.

or

Do i go out and buy Aperture 2?

If you have the original CD and supplied serial number, then no problem

Uninstall it from the old PC first though :)

One point though, which OS will the new box be running? If Vista, it might have a problem with a Photoshop version of that vintage....

Isn't Aperture 2 mainly a photo management tool rather than an image processing one & doesn't it only run on Mac OS or am I getting totally the wrong end of the stick? :orb_bonk:

Hey Jay -

Remove it from your old PC 1st - Then Install it on the other one. There should be no issues unless your on Vista in which case you will need the updated version of Photoshop.

I did have a copy around here. I will take a look for you ;)

I'd completely blast the contents of your hard dis in the old machine and destroy the data with something like a DBAN CD.

On the photoshop side you'll be fine to install it again, but for a free version try GIMP.

Photoshop 5 wont run on a new mac as it will be an OS9 version which has no support on an intel machine so would have to be through VMWare or Parallels.

If you want something more powerful to edit photos then look at elements now as the version that you have is that old all the tools that you use will now be in elements.

Oh and dont knock iPhoto either as i still use it along side Aperture. If you need any mac or osx help as well jay dont hesitate to give me a shout

Thanks for the replies.

Matt are you saying i can't run windows version of Photoshop on my Macbook?

It will be XP Pro not OS X 10.5.

How do you make a window bigger in Safari on a Mac?????????

If you're running XP pro on it, then any windows program will run.

To make the Safari window bigger, drag the bottom right corner, same as you would for Windows.
